Custom lobbies and spectator (August 18)

Rolling out through Battlefield Labs in Live with Top Gun:

  • Hosts assign teams and tweak select match settings
  • Built for private sessions and community tournaments
  • Four spectator slots (1P / 3P / free cam called out in the earlier roadmap)
  • Initial modes: BR Quads and Conquest, more later

Creators: pair spectator with a BattleStats overlay so casters can show live career stats beside the feed.

Proximity chat (September 15)

First iteration arrives in Battle Royale via Labs in Live, then multiplayer later if the live test holds. Studios are watching range, clarity, controls, and moderation.

Season 5 maps and reworks

  • Three new maps already in Labs testing
    • One more infantry-focused
    • Two large combined-arms
  • Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City reworks planned later in Season 5
  • Locations still unannounced (blurred teaser only)

When new maps hit live, map win-rate columns on BattleStats become the fastest way to see if you are learning lanes or just feeding.

Server browser, matchmaking, Platoons, leaderboards

  • Server browser → Labs ahead of S5 Phase 3; complements matchmaking, does not replace it
  • Matchmaking investigation ongoing (bots, ticket skew, high ping)
  • Platoons → S5 Phase 3 foundation for groups
  • Multiplayer leaderboards → Season 5 launch, building on ranked BR systems
  • Multiplayer ranked → in development, no firm date; informed by RedSec ranked

Balance pulse

Community survey: weapon balance sentiment +23 points June → July after Season 3 gunplay work. Average TTK up; winners taking more return damage. Vehicle and gadget passes continue alongside Season 4 naval content.

RedSec callouts from the Q&A

  • Fort Lyndon keeps getting new POIs; water/carrier content ramps in S4 Phase 2
  • Longer-range RedSec weapon tuning under evaluation (recoil, reserves, loot, armor damage)
  • Competitive events (Open / Elite Series) dates TBD

What to do this week on BattleStats

  1. Baseline multiplayer weapons before Top Gun jets skew vehicle stats.
  2. Separate RedSec ranked grind from casual BR in your own notes — the tracker already splits RedSec.
  3. Read Season 4 roadmap for content detail.
  4. Prep overlay presets if you cover August events.
