Season 5 did two things to REDSEC at once. Rapid Royale is a shorter, meaner battle royale, and Ranked Battle Royale left Battlefield Labs for a full launch, with redesigned badges and a new reward track.

What Rapid Royale actually changes
Rapid Royale is built to end sooner than a standard drop:
- Fewer players in the match
- A faster ring
- Airdrops that carry some of the best loot in the mode
- Kills that earn redeploys
- Maps in the rotation include Vegas Strip and Mirak Valley
A faster ring punishes looting loops. Redeploys reward the squad that keeps finding fights. That combination inflates kills per match and compresses the gap between a win and a top-ten. A player can look “better” on raw kills in a week of Rapid Royale and worse on win rate, because the ring deletes late rotations that used to save a placement.
Read the RedSec panel as three different games:
| Queue | What a good week looks like |
|---|---|
| Standard Royale | Placement and extractions still matter |
| Rapid Royale | Kills and redeploy tempo, shorter matches |
| Ranked | Division and consistency, not one hot drop |
BattleStats already keeps RedSec off the multiplayer tables. Inside RedSec, still separate a ranked climb from a Rapid session before you decide the season is going well.
Ranked is no longer a Labs test
Through Season 4, ranked battle royale lived in Labs in Live. Season 5 launches it as the ranked season, with new badges. If your division name changed overnight, that is the badge redesign, not a hidden reset you missed. Open the ranked row on the profile and read the mode name next to the division before you compare it to a Season 4 screenshot.
Season 4’s rules still colour how people play: infantry-first ranked, assists paid like kills, armor pulled out of the competitive queue. Season 5 did not publish a reversal of that in the launch notes. If tanks reappear in your ranked matches, trust the match over an old guide, then check the profile’s vehicle time inside RedSec rather than the multiplayer vehicle table.
A clean way to track the week
- Note your division before the first ranked block.
- Play Rapid and ranked in separate sittings if you can. Mixed nights make the win rate unreadable.
- After the session, look at RedSec wins, K/D, and matches — not the career multiplayer K/D.
- If you stream it, use the RedSec bar in the overlay builder. The multiplayer bar will not move when a royale match ends.
Placements still answer the question kills cannot: are you dying early, or are you living to the last circles and losing them? The placement guide is unchanged on that point. Rapid Royale just makes “early” happen faster.
Gauntlet and Carrier Strike were asked about in the Season 5 Discord Q&A. Studios said they want both back and had nothing to date. Do not plan a stats goal around either mode this month.
